Press Release – Proximity Systems, Inc. commends IUVA for communicating guidance on the use of UV disinfection to reduce transmission of COVID-19

The UV-CLEAN device manufacturer is proud to offer UV-C technology and products that protect patients, staff and the general public from the COVID-19 outbreak

Tomball, Texas – March 31, 2020 – Proximity Systems, Inc., a leading provider of UV-C disinfection technology and products, supports the recently released International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) statement and fact sheet regarding the role of UV disinfection in the reduction of COVID-19 transmission.

Proximity Systems Clinical Advisor and VP of International Sales, Steve Reinecke, responded to the IUVA guidelines, saying, “As a member of IUVA, Proximity supports their effort to communicate information based on data and evidence, as it relates to the effectiveness of UV disinfection for air, water and surfaces. We’re proud to offer UV-C disinfection technology that can support health care facilities’ cleaning efforts during the COVID-19 outbreak.”

Using UV-C energy to inactivate microorganisms at the genetic level by scrambling their cellular DNA, UV-CLEAN has been proven by independent testing to eliminate 99.9% of deadly pathogens on high touch surfaces. The no-touch, self-disinfecting device continually cleans surfaces, including IT equipment, workstations on wheels (WOWS), portable medical equipment (PME) and other high-touch surfaces.

“Many customers have asked if our UV-C disinfection products can provide safer high touch surfaces in the midst in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak,” said Reinecke. “As IUVA recognized, UV-C has been proven to inactivate coronavirus, SARS-CoV-1, which is 80% genetically related to COVID-19. There is every indication that similar results can be achieved by using UV-C to disinfect surfaces exposed to COVID-19’s virus, SARS-CoV-2.”

UV-CLEAN not only disinfects surfaces, but it mitigates human error associated with the spread of infections and viruses. Although hand washing protocols and chemical disinfection have been long recognized, studies demonstrate cleaning regimens are not always followed.

“Because the UV-CLEAN device consistently cleans in cycles and has a built-in motion sensor, individuals can have confidence that the high touch surfaces they interact with are disinfected regularly and after any use,” explained Proximity Systems’ CEO, Jeremy Goza. “Our UV-C technology and products are proven solutions that better protect patients, health care workers and the public from harmful pathogens, like COVID-19.”
